Book of the Month: Read This if Job Interviews Make You Nervous

At the age of 23, I found myself in charge of hiring for a department I was building. I received very little training when I needed to start interviewing staff, and I had to figure things out on my own.

I wish I had this book back then, but it didn’t exist yet. I found it many years later when I was applying for a job, and they recommended that applicants read this book. I devoured the book and found it to be so insightful. As a result, I not only adjusted how I interviewed candidates, but also how I prepare myself for job interviews. It’s now a book I recommend to my clients whether they are interviewing for a job or whether they are the interviewer.

Perhaps you’ve had negative interview experiences or were hired for a job that you really weren’t a great fit for. This book will open your eyes to what your interview experience should be like, either as a candidate or the person doing the interviewing. It is alarming how many companies do a poor job of evaluating candidates, designing the interview process and onboarding their new employees. More leaders and managers should read this book and apply its strategies!
