5 Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read
1) Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller
I mentor a lot of marketers and new entrepreneurs, and I make them read this book. It’s very easy to make marketing extremely complicated and time consuming. Donald Miller does a great job at helping you clarify your messaging.
I also have attended his 2-day StoryBrand Workshop/Conference. It was amazing! I wireframed a website in 2 days and got very helpful feedback from a StoryBrand Certified Guide. If you’re struggling with your messaging and have the funds to go, I highly recommend it.
2) What’s in it for Them? by Joe Polish
In life, you don’t get much—if anything—accomplished on your own. You need other people, even if you’re a solopreneur. My network has been critical to the success of building my business. Without these contacts, I would not have had the opportunities to speak at conferences, be on podcasts and obtain knowledge from people much smarter than me that has helped me grow my business.
The key to getting those doors opened is building real relationships.
In the Level Up Book Club, we read a great book in July by master networker, Joe Polish.
If networking feels awkward or if you’re having a hard time building the right relationships, make sure you read “What’s in it for Them?”
3) Communicate to Influence by Ben Decker and Kelly Decker
If you’re a coach, course creator or membership owner, you will be doing a lot of public speaking—whether it’s through online videos, speaking on stages, being interviewed on podcasts and writing your social media content.
You will appreciate their advice about how to build your presentations.
This book was another selection of my Level Up Book Club, and members loved how the authors broke down their communication strategies into simple frameworks that could be implemented immediately. In addition, the authors give a few practical suggestions at the end of each chapter to help you practice what you’ve learned.
4) Profit First by Mike Michalowicz
Managing your finances as an entrepreneur can be overwhelming, especially if you have multiple revenue streams. This book is very helpful at teaching you how to make the best financial decisions that you should make as a business owner.
5) Launch by Jeff Walker
If you ever bought a digital product online from a webinar, chances are they learned how to launch and sell from Jeff Walker.
Walker teaches his Product Launch Formula in this book and in his popular online course. It’s worth a read so that you can start understanding all that goes into launching offers online.
